This Project started as we had a requirement to design and produce a custom Oil Drain for a Turbo. The Turbo is for the new GR Yaris & GR Corolla already capable engine, the G16E-GTS.

As the photo above shows, the area in which we had to work with was very limited. We first thought of the usual thing, machine two fittings, get a braided hose with two fittings and call it a day. However, as we learned there is just not enough room for that and if you do manage to get one in, it will be with a lot of work, not customer friendly in any form. So we found a new solution, 3D printing. With Metal 3D printing the sky is the limit. We can create weird angles and still get away with it.

We designed two fittings with steep angles that will align to each out. The rest is connected with a normal Oil Hose that can be purchase easily.

The 3D prints were outsourced. And the result is amazingly accurate. The last step is to machine the flanges flat and add an o-ring groove. For that we had to design a custom fixture to hold it in the machine.

We went all in and 3D printed the fixture too. And the final result is here.
